Happy 60th Birthday Uncle Tim!
I have so many wonderful memories of times spent with you.
Since I was a little girl you have always treated me like another one of your kids. I recall countless times that Allison and I would stay at each other’s houses several days in a row, and I always felt welcome…like I fit right into the mix.
Through the years many things have changed as I have grown up. I went from knowing you through the eyes of a little girl, a teenager, a young woman, a married woman, and now through the eyes of a mother.
I remember the amazing climber that you built at the old house. To me, as a little girl, it seemed like we climbed forever to reach the top. Once we were there though, it felt like we could see forever and were far above the ground below. The tent that you then put on the top of it so that we could camp out overnight was so much fun too! It was like our own secret hideout!
I have many wonderful memories of times at Lake-O. All of the boat rides, water sports, music, late night games, talks, and quality times spent together are times I will always cherish.
When I was a teenager I had a pair of brown high-heeled shoes. I recall feeling devastated to find that the heel of one of the shoes had broken. I loved wearing those shoes! When I took the shoe to my mom and showed it took her, I remember saying…”I have to get this shoe to Uncle Tim. He can fix ANYTHING!” She tried to prepare me for the fact that the shoe may not be fixable. I told her that I knew you could do it. There was no doubt in my mind! We took the shoe to you and you said, “let me see what I can do”. I left it with you. When I returned, the shoe was fixed and looked like it had never been broken. You told me that you were able to use an adhesive that is used on cars. If I remember correctly, it was something that holds windshields into cars. I thought it was brilliant! I still have those shoes and wear them in the summer. I love the way that you are able to think outside of the box and come up with new inventive ways of doing things. Your creativeness and abilities never cease to amaze me.
As a young woman, I remember being so excited to call you and Aunt Tracy the night that Jason proposed. I couldn’t wait for you both to know about this milestone in my life! I was so excited to share my excitement with you! You and your family are so special to me and I am so thankful all of you were there to share in my special day of becoming Mrs. Jason Roher.
Now as a married woman and mother, I see you from yet another perspective. Watching the way that you love Aunt Tracy and your children is inspiring. You would do anything in your power to take care of your family. This past weekend that we spent together at the lake, I watched your heartfelt emotions as you spoke about your wife and children. Your love, compassion, care, and commitment to your family are what every woman would desire for her husband to be like. Your children are blessed to have a father who loves them so much. I admire the man of God that I see in you.
As a mother, I watched you this past weekend with Noah’s toy bear driving the car, trying to figure out what makes it propel itself across the floor after being shaken, I just smiled and thought…Yep, that’s my Uncle Tim!
My Uncle Tim is a loving, caring, compassionate, Godly, inventive, creative, respectable man of admirable character - a man that I am so thankful to have known all of my life.
I look forward to many more years of wonderful times spent with you. I look forward to those times of quietly smiling inside and thinking…Yep, that’s my Uncle Tim!
I love you!
Andrea
